College Going Rates

We are proud that despite the many socio-economic challenges JJSE students face, our students are staying in school and preparing themselves for college. According to the new California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System, JJSE’s four-year dropout rate is under 5%, compared to the statewide rate of 17%. JJSE’s college eligibility rates for Latino graduates (59%) and African-American graduates (75%) are by far the highest of any public school in the city and far exceed statewide rates. Our overall college eligibility rate of 68% is second highest after the city’s prestigious Lowell High, which has academic entrance requirements.
